In 2017, Sierra Tanner discovered Circus Arts, and committed herself to the performance art. She studied and trained aerial silk, hoop, trapeze, and hammock under her mentor, Sarah Scheunhange - Owner/Director of The Rising Circus: Victoria Centre for Circus Arts and Company. By 2019, Sierra became a member of The Rising’s Professional Performance Company, where she expanded her skills to include lollipop lyra, wegsphere, stilt walking, and aerial cube. With the Company, she performed at both private and public events on Vancouver Island and Vancouver, taking part in The Rising's in-house shows on various apparatuses and acts—ranging from solos and duos to small groups. Notable performances include events at The Fairmont Empress, Diner en Blanc in Victoria’s Inner Harbour, the Victoria Conference Centre, and The Fairmont Waterfront in Vancouver. Sierra’s performance career also introduced her to the filming industry, where she appeared as a circus performer in Disney’s movie “Under Wraps 2”.

 

In 2022, Sierra Tanner and Chloe Hoffman joined to form “Duo Synchronicity.” The aerial duo developed the aerial hoop act “Tilted Reflections,” which was awarded 1st place at the Virtual Canadian Pole and Aerial Championship, and later was featured live on Chek News Victoria. In 2024, Duo Synchronicity performed with the Circollective Society for Circus Artists in their Debut Show “Circurious.”

In 2024 Sierra moved back to Canmore - just outside of her hometown Banff - and coined herself as the independent circus artist/performer “The Cirque Sierra.” Cirque Sierra specializes in performances on the Lollipop Lyra for private, corporate, and public events in Banff, Canmore, and beyond! Sierra has already graced some iconic venues in the area, including The Fairmont Banff Springs, Silvertip Resort, The Gem, and Jasper in January.
